Acqua Di Gio Profumo Discontinued? True or Rumor?
I’m sorry to hear that you’re looking for information about Acqua di Gio Profumo being discontinued. As of my last knowledge update in September 2023, Acqua di Gio Profumo by Giorgio Armani was a popular fragrance that had not been officially discontinued. However, it’s essential to note that product availability can change over time due to various factors such as market demand, brand decisions, or reformulations.
There have been a lot of rumors that the Acqua Di Gio Profumo perfume has been discontinued.
And if you go to the manufacturer’s website, you’ll see that it’s out of stock.
Plenty of people have been complaining about not being able to order it for the past few months. In fact, when asked about the perfume, here is what Giorgio Armani USA has to say:
Thank you for reaching out about Acqua Di Gio Profumo Eau De Parfum Spray. We regret to tell you this fragrance has been discontinued and is no longer being manufactured. As consumers ourselves, we understand how disappointing it can be when a favorite product or shade is no longer available. We suggest you try Acqua Di Gio Eau De Parfum. While this is not an exact replacement, you’ll find some of the same qualities you loved in Acqua Di Gio Profumo Eau De Parfum Spray.
For those who may not have noticed, Giorgio Armani actually referenced two products there.
One is the Profumo, which has now been phased out, and the other is the ordinary Acqua Di Gio, which now stands as a replacement.
So, it now looks as though the fragrance has now been discontinued.

Acqua Di Gio Profumo Discontinued? True or Rumor?
Yes, Acqua Di Gio Profumo is discontinued by Giorgio Armani. While some people believe that it is actually not discontinued, this isn’t true.
You could argue that it is not complete discontinuation, since you now have a new bottle.
However, they aren’t the same thing (there is no magnetic cap on the new bottle, for example).
And as you can see in the quote above, the brand confirms that not only is the Profumo no longer being manufactured but that it has been replaced by another.
Which, by the way, isn’t really an alternative.
In fact, while I was researching for this, I saw a lot of posts/questions have flooded several forums with most getting annoyed about the discontinuation.
Reasons for Discontinuation of Acqua di Gio Profumo
The maker, Giorgio Armani, has stopped producing the well-known fragrance Acqua di Gio Profumo. After carefully examining the market trends and customer demands, this choice was decided. The decision to discontinue the product was made for a number of reasons, including shifting customer tastes, heightened competition in the fragrance market, and the necessity to concentrate on other product lines.
Recent years have seen a considerable shift in consumer tastes, with many choosing lighter, more summery smells.
Any Hope It May Come Back?
I don’t think it’s coming back. Some months ago, the product was unavailable on the Giorgio Armani website. And when I was writing this article, its still out of stock.
And you know the most interesting thing? Another customer rep actually confirmed the discontinuation as you can see from the image below:
The only chance is to look for any stock from retailers online and offline. If you can still get it from there, then buy what can.
UPDATE: There are multiple reports that the product is still in stock. In fact, some customers say they bought them in local Kohl’s stores and in Germany. However, it is still saying “Out of Stock” on the Armani’s website. So, let’s know if you were actually able to purchase one.
Acqua di Gio Profumo Review
According to Armani:
Acqua Di Giò Profumo is a sophisticated fragrance born from volcanic rock and deep ocean waters. Deeply sophisticated and intensely masculine, Acqua di Giò Profumo evokes the depth and intensity of the Mediterranean Sea.
As you can see, the perfume is made for men. So, if you’re looking for a strong, masculine perfume to add to your collection, then the Profumo fragrance is a good option.
Top notes for the Profumo include bergamot and sea notes. Base notes include incense and patchouli while the heart notes are rosemary, sage, and geranium.
These notes are also backed with essential oils and aroma-inducing chemicals that is remiscent of classic men fragrances.
When applied, you can expect to get up to 9 hours, depending on the climate condition. The original bottle is even more potent as some users have complained they are only getting around 7 hours from the new bottle.
There are different bottle sizes, ranging from 180ml, 125ml, and 75ml as well as a special blend, which was launched in 2017.
You can find it in major stores, another reason why it’s popular. You can get it on Amazon, Ulta, Kohl’s, Walmart, Target, and other major retailers.
Alternatives to the Acqua Di Gio Profumo
One thing I like about Armani is that they promptly came up with an alternative after discontinuing the Acqua Di Gio Profumo.
In fact, some users claimed they actually like the new Eau de Parfum while also noting that it doesn’t come with the same incense the Profumo is known with.
Another serious contender is the Profondo, which has remained. You can also look into Dior Sauvage, Ysl y Edp, Eau de Toilette, Dylan Blue, and Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Intense.
Whichever you choose, remember, it’s your choice. So, pick wisely.
It is literally in stock if you click on the link you’ve provided to the Armani store (as of October 2nd, 2022).
Never ever has it been discontinued. It has always been available in all the airports in Europe and the Middle East.
These rumors were spread by simpletons who couldn’t get it from webshops and their local stores.
The problem is global supply chain issues, not just for perfumes, but also for electronics (e.g. iPhone delay and PS5 production) and medication (packaging issues). They cannot find the materials to produce the bottles (hence the simpler new bottle) or to get the raw materials to be shipped to their production facilities.
If you’d contacted Armani before writing this, you would have known. Not the interns who work at a 3rd party customer support company (they know nothing about production, just current availability on webshops), but the actual firm.
