The skincare industry is growing more and more each day.
Back then, skincare was popular among young adult women, but nowadays, everyone is on it. No matter your gender, age, or race, there is a skincare product for you.
As consumers continue to increase, so do skincare companies.
With several skincare products being sold on the market, it’s hard to tell which one is worth getting. Among the popular skincare lines, today are Curology and Proven Skincare.
Curology vs Proven: Which Skin Care Brand Is Better?
Curology and Proven Skin Care both offer subscription services for both men and women, and ship your orders directly to your doorstep.
They sell personalized skincare products that are best suited for each individual’s skin type.
But how do you choose between these two leading skincare brands?
Which one shows faster and better results? Is one cheaper than the other?
I have done some research on Curology vs Proven Skincare and have provided below a short and detailed comparison.
Skin Care Products Offered
Curology
- The custom formula for acne
- The custom formula for anti-aging
- Cleanser and moisturizer
- Spot patch
Proven Skincare
- Personalized Skin Care System ( cleanser, SPF day cream, night cream)
- Personalized Cleanser
- The Personalized Day Moisturizer
- Personalized Night Cream
Skin Care Ingredients Included
Curology
Curology provides custom-formulated skincare products based on the customer’s background and skin type.
All customers are required to take the Curology’s Skin quiz to analyze the results and develop formulas best suited for them.
What sets Curology apart is that it lists all the ingredients it uses on its website. Although the active ingredient is based on individual needs, the common ingredients found in all of Curology’s skincare products include:
- Clindamycin
- Azelaic acid
- Tretinoin
- Niacinamide
- Zinc Pyrithione
- Tranexamic acid
- Metronidazole
- Ivermectin
You’ll be given 3 to choose from these. Once your package is complete, you should know what they are.
Proven Skincare
Ingredients and formulations that go into the products are based on the customer’s answers to the brand’s skincare assessment.
Customers will then be given a formula that is best suited for their skin type, skin concerns, and lifestyle.
Unfortunately, Proven doesn’t list ingredients on their website. Not very good right?
However, from further research, Proven employs ingredients like:
- Green tea leaves
- Turmeric
- Panax ginseng
- Garlic bulb
- Vitamin E and C
- Lycopene
Is the brand cruelty-free?
Curology
- All skincare products are cruelty-free and vegan-friendly. Leaping Bunny, an organization that awards cruelty-free certification to skincare brands, has certified Curology to be cruelty-free. That’s to say all of the ingredients in their products are officially proven to be free from animal derivatives. Neither are the ingredients also tested on animals. So, if that’s your concern, you’re good to go.
Proven Skincare
- All skincare products are 100% cruelty-free. According to PETA.org, Proven does not test on animals. PETA, like Leaping Bunny, is another independent company that issues cruelty-free certifications to companies. So, if you see the PETA badge on a brand, you can be sure it’s 100% cruelty-free.
Where To Buy The Products?
Curology
All products are sold at their online store curology.com. Curology is more personified than Proven.
So, if you want your ingredient to be personalized and picked, you’ll have to order Curology online.
Most of their custom products aren’t available in regular departments or drug stores. What I’m trying to say is that it is better to purchase it online from the official site.
Proven Skin Care
All products are sold at the brand’s website at provenskincare.com.
Proven products are available on other platforms, including Amazon, Sephora, Walmart, Nordstrom, and Walgreens.
But because it is a newer brand, you may not yet be able to get it in your state. In that case, you’ll have to return to the official site.
I’ll argue that’s better if you want a personalized shopping experience.
Price
Curology
The subscription price for 1 month is $19.95 (small custom formula). The price for 2 months is $39.90 (large custom formula).
A Curology set costs $59.90. And an additional $4.95 shipping fee for every order.
When you look at the subscription structure of both brands, you’ll see that Curology is less expensive. And it comes with almost all the things that Prove promises you, so it’s a big plus.
Proven Skincare
The Personalized Skin Care System costs $129.99 every 2 months.
While the personalized cleanser costs $34.99. You can get a 35% discount on the total costs of the products when subscribed.
Generally, Proven is more expensive than Curology.
They also don’t have a lot of reviews either, so it can definitely be a shoot in the dark. (This is now changing though as many are trying it and coming out to talk about their results).
Aside from being cheaper, there are also a lot of reviews on Curology. Yes, that’s because it’s been around longer. But that can certainly help you decide if the brand is for you or not.
As you can imagine, the major complaint on Proven is the price and the fact that it’s not quite accessible as Curology is.
However, don’t despair. There are tons of people who have already tried Proven’s products and have nothing but good to say about them.
Conclusion
Both skincare brands work similarly to each other. Both provide customers with custom-made formulas based on the individual’s needs.
Curology focuses on acne-prone skins and anti-aging formulas.
While Proven Skincare provides formulas that cater to all skin types using award-winning technology and backed by the highest level of science.
If you’re looking for overall skin care and you don’t mind spending a bit more, choose Proven Skincare.
If you have acne-prone skin and are looking for a cheaper alternative, choose Curology.
At the end of the day, both brands provide personalized formulas that are best suited for you. Choose the brand you feel more comfortable and confident in.
