Yes, Canmake is cruelty-free. The brand has confirmed that it is truly cruelty-free and doesn’t test on animals.
When asked about their animal testing policy and whether they sell in China, the brand responded, which shows they have some commitment to ending animal testing.
This is what the brand has to say about its animal testing:
Basically, CANMAKE products use plant derived ingredients for purpose of formulation and we are not doing animal testing.
However, please note that we don’t have a policy for animal-test-free and animal-ingredient-free products only.
Therefore we can’t deny if we use animal ingredients in future. Also we don’t have stores in China but we do online shopping as follows… https://canmake.tmall.hk/
There are two important points we can all take away from the brand’s response. These are:
1. The brand does not currently do any animal testing, neither do they follow the mandatory animal testing policy in China by having physical stores there and allowing the governement to test on their behalf.
2. The brand doesn’t guarantee it won’t engage in animal testing in the future.
To some extent, the response isn’t satisfactory but enough to understand the brand’s stand when it comes to animal testing.
As long as a brand doesn’t engage in animal cruelty in any form, it has the right to a cruelty-free label. And when it no longer fulfills that, then it can be taken away from them.
Therefore, it’s still safe to buy products from Canmake as a cruelty-free brand.
Is Canmake a Vegan Brand?
At this time, Canmake isn’t 100% vegan. In its response above, the brand concludes that it cannot guarantee that the ingredients in its products are not derived from animals.
So, some of their products may contain animal-derived ingredients, which means it is not a vegan brand.
Is Canmake Owned By a Parent Company that Tests on Animal?
No, Canmake is not owned by any parent company that tests on animals.
Is Canmake Products Worth Buying?
Well, if your only concern is for a brand to be cruelty-free, then you shouldn’t have any problems with buying from Canmake. It’s a cruelty-free brand alright.
However, if you’re concerned that the brand is not vegan, you may want to look for alternatives.
Fortunately, there are other Korean brands that you can try. Not all of them will be cruelty-free or vegan, but you can find some good options.
